Dena Lahar

Clinic Manager

Dena is the welcoming face and steady hand behind the daily operations at the Positional Release Therapy Institute. With more than 20 years of experience in business management and administration, she blends her organizational expertise with a compassionate approach rooted in trauma-informed care, health, and wellness.

Her studies in Behavioral Science and Integrated Health, along with certifications in multiple wellness modalities, provide her with a deep understanding of whole-person care. She has also served as Co-Chair for the Global Mental Health Action Network, an organization contracted with the World Health Organization to advance access to mental health services through the 2030 Sustainable Living Act project. This experience strengthens her ability to foster a safe and supportive environment for clients at the Institute.

Having sustained her own traumatic brain injury, Dena has personally experienced the healing effects of many of the modalities offered at the Positional Release Therapy Institute. She has also witnessed hundreds of individuals find relief and share their own success stories through these approaches. This first-hand experience fuels her passion for helping people feel relief, find relief, and watch their souls grow and glow as they begin to heal.

Dena views a well-run office like a finely tuned machine, where each person is an essential gear working in harmony with the others. One of her greatest responsibilities is ensuring that every team member has the tools, resources, and support they need to keep the entire system running smoothly. She believes the teamwork at the Positional Release Therapy Institute is exceptional and takes pride in contributing to the collaborative spirit that makes the office so effective.

From welcoming clients and guiding them through the scheduling process to ensuring operations run seamlessly behind the scenes, Dena strives to make every step clear, comfortable, and stress-free. Her dedication to operational excellence and genuine care makes her a valued and trusted part of the Positional Release Therapy Institute team.

Dr. Timothy Speicher

PhD, ATC, LAT, CSCS, PRT-c®, EMT, OEC

Dr. Timothy Speicher is an internationally recognized clinician, educator, author, researcher, and entrepreneur with decades of experience in healthcare, human performance, neuroscience, and athletic training. As President and founder of the Positional Release Therapy Institute® and the Go Strong Core Program®, Dr. Speicher has dedicated his career to advancing innovative approaches in rehabilitation, performance optimization, and clinical education.

Dr. Speicher earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Towson University and completed his graduate training at Marshall University, where he served as Clinical Supervisor for the Athletic Training Program and Strength and Conditioning Coach for Men’s Soccer. He later completed his doctoral degree in Adult Learning at the University of Connecticut, specializing in neurocognitive applications for transfer of learning in medicine.

Throughout his career, Dr. Speicher has held numerous academic and leadership positions in higher education and healthcare. He has served as Associate Professor and Research Fellow within the PhD Health Sciences Program at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions, Affiliate Faculty for the University of Idaho Athletic Training Program teaching neuroscience, and Assistant Professor, Clinical Coordinator, and Director of Graduate Research at Weber State University. He also served as Clinical Associate Professor and Director of the Human Movement and Sports Science Program at Sacred Heart University, where he founded and developed the Life and Sport Analysis Clinic, a biomechanics and performance laboratory serving both university and community populations.

In addition to his academic leadership, Dr. Speicher has contributed extensively to the athletic training profession through national service, research, and publication. He has served as a State President, Board Member for the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Research & Education Foundation, journal reviewer, and Editorial Board Member for the Athletic Training Education Journal. His research and clinical expertise focuses on positional release therapy, transfer of learning, therapeutic modalities, and case-based analogical reasoning, with presentations and publications recognized both nationally and internationally.

Dr. Speicher is also the author of the internationally published textbook Clinical Guide to Positional Release Therapy, which has been translated into Chinese and distributed worldwide. He continues to educate clinicians and the public through speaking engagements, research initiatives, and his podcast, The In with Dr. Tim, where he discusses innovative strategies to improve health, rehabilitation, and human performance.

His clinical experience spans collegiate athletics, rehabilitation, industrial medicine, outpatient care, and Olympic-level sports medicine. Most notably, Dr. Speicher served as Medical Supervisor for Long Track Speed Skating during the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.
Dr. Speicher’s career reflects a lifelong commitment to advancing patient care, clinical innovation, evidence-based practice, and professional education through leadership, research, and hands-on clinical expertise.

Dr. Kyle Kurzet

MD, MS, FAWM, FAAFP

Medical Director

Dr. Kyle Kurzet is a board-certified family physician and Medical Director with extensive experience in primary care, sports medicine, wilderness medicine, emergency medicine, and healthcare leadership. Dr. Kurzet’s approach to patient care is rooted in evidence-based medicine, preventive health, and helping individuals achieve sustainable, whole-person wellness at every stage of life.

Dr. Kurzet earned dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Anthropology, followed by a Master of Science in Molecular and Cell Biology from Brandeis University. Dr. Kurzet later earned their Doctor of Medicine degree from Oregon Health & Science University and completed residency training at McKay-Dee Hospital. Dr. Kurzet is board-certified in Family Medicine and holds Fellowships with both the Academy of Wilderness Medicine and the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Throughout their career, Dr. Kurzet has worked across a wide range of clinical settings including primary care, urgent care, obstetrics, women’s health, emergency medicine, sports medicine, and rural healthcare. Dr. Kurzet has provided care for organizations including Intermountain Healthcare, Brigham Medical Clinic, Planned Parenthood of Utah, Midtown Community Health Center, and multiple rural hospitals throughout Utah and Idaho.
As Medical Director of the Positional Release Therapy Institute, Dr. Kurzet brings a collaborative and patient-centered philosophy focused on clinical quality, innovation, and interdisciplinary care. Dr. Kurzet’s professional interests include preventive medicine, athletic and wilderness medicine, LGBTQI+ healthcare, palliative care, and healthcare quality improvement.

In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Kurzet has contributed extensively to medical education and community service, previously serving as adjunct clinical faculty at Weber State University, lecturing on medical topics for pre-health professions and athletic training students. Dr. Kurzet has also volunteered internationally with the Haiti Health Initiative and locally with the Ogden Rescue Mission’s Seager Memorial Clinic, while additionally serving as a board member for the Utah Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Kurzet has significant experience in sports and event medicine, serving as team physician for the Ogden Mustangs hockey team and Medical Director for events including the USA Cycling Masters Road National Championships, XTerra National Triathlon and Trail Running Championships, and the Ogden Marathon. Dr. Kurzet has also provided physician coverage for NCAA championship events, cycling competitions, rodeos, and numerous athletic events throughout Utah.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Kurzet enjoys spending time outdoors with family and friends. Dr. Kurzet’s passions include running, cycling, cross-country skiing, backpacking, travel, teaching, art, and reading — pursuits that continue to reinforce commitment to health, performance, and lifelong wellness.

Bryan Wynn

Clinical Director and Positional Release Therapist

Bryan Wynn serves as Clinical Director, bringing over eight years of clinical experience and a strong commitment to patient care, team development, and operational excellence. Over the past two years, Bryan has played a key role in strengthening relationships between patients, providers, and staff while helping guide the clinic through continued growth and development.

Throughout his career, Bryan has honed his skills across a wide range of treatment modalities, including instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, dry needling, and evidence-based rehabilitation techniques. His approach combines innovative clinical care with individualized treatment planning to help patients achieve meaningful and lasting outcomes.

As a leader, Bryan is known for his professionalism, adaptability, and collaborative mindset. He is deeply committed to improving communication, supporting staff, and creating systems that enhance both patient experience and clinical efficiency. His calm, solution-focused approach allows him to navigate challenges effectively while maintaining a supportive and positive environment for both patients and team members.
