Your Introduction to Specialized Therapy in Ogden, Utah
Welcome to the Positional Release Therapy Institute (PRT-i). I’m proud to serve the residents of Ogden, Utah and the surrounding areas by offering a specialized, evidence-based solution for chronic pain, acute muscle tension, and mobility issues. At PRT-i, my mission is to help patients improve their life, work, and sport performance through evidence-based therapy. I’m also committed to providing healthcare professionals with high-quality Positional Release Therapy continuing education and certification to enhance their patient outcomes.
I founded PRT-i as the nation’s premier center for Positional Release Therapy—a gentle, non-invasive technique designed to relieve pain by resetting the body’s neuromuscular system. As someone who has dedicated my career to manual therapy and research, I’m deeply committed to offering the Ogden community—and others around the world—a nervous system-focused approach to managing both chronic and acute pain. This work is deeply personal to me. My nephew and Godson passed away at the age of 31 due to an opioid addiction. That loss fuels my determination to provide an effective, alternative therapy that helps prevent others from experiencing the same tragic outcome.
What Is Positional Release Therapy?

PRT is a nervous system-driven manual therapy that works by placing the body in specific positions to relieve pain and tension in muscles and joints. It’s like gently getting out of a finger trap—by shortening and compressing affected tissues, we can reset the neurological signals, which relieves pain and improves function. This approach is especially helpful for people who don’t respond well to traditional deep-tissue therapies or who haven’t seen results with other treatments.
My goal with PRT is to create a healing environment where your body can self-correct by addressing both musculoskeletal and neurological imbalances. When we do this, pain decreases, strength and flexibility return, and tissue begins to regenerate. Of course, no single therapy solves everything. That’s why I often integrate multiple techniques into a personalized treatment plan—not just from me, but from our whole team, including therapists, personal trainers, and physicians. My PRT therapy and performance techniques are grounded in clinical experience and research, conducted both in our clinic and internationally. You can check out my latest research on treating low back pain with PRT on our website. I bring the most current advances in PRT and related therapies into each patient’s comprehensive care plan to address your unique condition and performance goals.
PRT is rooted in osteopathic principles, meaning I primarily use my hands to manipulate tissue. My Mechanical Coupling Theory (2006) explains how, through PRT, we “unkink” tissue fibers by mechanically shortening them and altering the neurochemical bonds created by pain and inflammation. By interrupting the pain signal—whether it’s from an acute or chronic source—we reduce neural activation at the spinal cord, brain stem, and tissue level. This lowers pain and restores function. Over time, by decreasing the nervous system’s overactivity, we help reset its baseline, allowing tissues to return to a healthy state.
Why Choose PRT-i?

At PRT-i, I offer both hands-on treatment and professional training in Positional Release Therapy. Drawing from over 30 years of clinical experience and research, I’ve developed standardized PRT protocols to ensure consistent, effective outcomes. Each patient receives a tailored care plan that blends PRT with other therapies to provide lasting pain relief and better quality of life.
PRT is often just the beginning. Once the pain is released, we move into restoring function and then retaining those improvements. That’s the foundation of my Three R’s of Manual Therapy—Release, Restore, and Retain—which clinicians around the world now use. When tissues are in pain, they contract and weaken. Blood vessels and nerves inside the tight tissue become compressed, decreasing blood flow and neural input, which impacts healing. That’s why I create one-on-one, comprehensive plans that are tailored to your specific therapy and performance goals.
