I have had several patients complain of heel pain recently, particularly upon waking and placing their foot on the floor. The tendon of the plantar fascia attaches to the bottom of the heel on the inside or medial side of the foot. Excessive traction or pulling of the plantar fascia can irritate this location. As a tip, do not put your foot on the ground in the morning. Slip your feet immediately into a supportive shoe or sandal and try the self-release technique for arch pain featured on this site prior.
